Perhaps you're one of those Cottage Industry customers who has admired a new display featuring what appear to be pretty beaded necklaces, only to realize up close that they are actually bra straps! That's right -- bra straps, made from beautiful glass and gemstone beads in an array of fashionable colors and able to fit on any bra with removable straps. The beaded bra straps are the brainchild of new Cottage Industry designer Jacqueline Flournoy, under her Punctuation label. "Necessity was the inspiration for these bra straps," explains Jacqueline. "I always wanted to wear tanks and camis, but didn't want my bra straps showing!" With her line of pretty beaded straps, you'll actually want your bra straps to show. Jacqueline has been making the straps for three years and has had terrific success - she sells in several area boutiques and has even been written up in the Orlando Sentinel (twice!) and Justine magazine (for teens).
Cottage Industry Co-op also carries Jacqueline's line of reworked vintage clothing, which is a more recent venture. "The reworked vintage line is an idea that I tossed around with my [teenaged] daughter," Jacqueline said. "We love vintage clothes and thought it would be a unique way to make eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind items. On a recent vacation to LA, my niece fueled the passion by taking us to fabulous vintage shops."
After a 15-year career as a professional pastry chef, Jacqueline enjoys pursuing these creative ventures and being a wife and mom to two beautiful daughters, ages 15 and 6. "I love working on the vintage line, in particular," she said. "I love the hunt and giving items with a history an exciting new future."
