Designer Challenge One: Recycled

We recently gave our designers a challenge, and boy did they deliver! We asked them to make an item for sale out of recycled, re-purposed materials. For some it was easy, since all of their goods already fit that definition, like Shelly's pillows.

Others broke new ground with their creations, and had fun doing it! Julie made glass beads out of old wine bottles and fashioned them into a bracelet. Erin made a darling girl's dress from a bed sheet. Elena turned a vintage vinyl record into a funky purse and a man's tie into a woman's cuff bracelet. Jennine did a cute painting on recycled cardboard and decorated it with leftover ric rac. Jessica made a pair of plain denim shorts into an adorable girly skirt. Jessi created functional and cute cup cozies out of felt made from recycled plastic bottles. And Loreen made a terrific magnetic frame with a London subway map as background.

Be sure to check out these and other one-of-a-kind, recycled creations the next time you're at Cottage!
