Meet the Designer: Shelly Broadwell

Come to Shelly's Meet the Designer Event on Wednesday, August 20th

Think pillows are a decorating afterthought? Think again! Designer Shelly Broadwell knows that a few well-placed throw pillows can brighten up a whole room. "Pillows can have a huge impact on a person's environment," Shelly says. "They can really make people feel happy about a room." And Shelly should know. She's made a living designing pillows for model homes for the past ten years. And now, for the first time, she's selling her pillows to the public!

A committed environmentalist, Shelly realized she should do something with the leftover fabrics and trims from her model home jobs. So she decided to recycle them and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pillows, as well as tote bags and vintage-style aprons. (We're carrying all three!) If you'd like pillows in specific colors or styles, Shelly's happy to do custom work. "I love to have clients come to my studio to collaborate on pillow designs," she said.

Outside of her pillow business, Shelly is a busy mom to a 9-year-old son and is active in the PTA and the annual Global Peace Film Festival. In fact, she'll be collaborating with Infusion Tea to run a café at the Film Festival this year.

Come chat with Shelly in person at her Meet the Designer event, to be held at Cottage Industry on Wednesday, August 20, from 6 to 9pm. Edible goodies will be provided by Infusion, and everyone is welcome to attend. If you'd like to come, please RSVP by August 18. See you there!
