Designer Profile: Cat Sanders of Cool Cat Creations

Cat Sanders of Cool Cat Creations is one of the charter designers at Cottage Industry -- she's been crafting beautiful mixed-media jewelry for us for nearly two years.

What has given Cat success is her intuitive artistic sense and ability to constantly come up with creative new ideas for her customers. One recent example is her new line of Mood Bead necklaces, with beads that change when you touch them.

For Valentine's Day, Cat has created a whole array of lovely heart-shaped pieces. They include cute and versatile heart-shaped hoop earrings in sterling silver and gold-fill, as well as heart-shaped ear threaders (featured in BeadStyle magazine!), agate heart necklaces, glass heart and ribbon necklaces, and heart charm cuff bracelets. She's got something for every taste and price range.

Cat has been a serious crafter for as long as she can remember. "Every Christmas I learned a new craft to make handmade Christmas presents," she said. "One year it was jewelry -- and that stuck!"

Indeed it did. Cat says making jewelry is as relaxing as meditation for her. "It's my joy," she says. "I can't stop." We -- and her many devoted customers -- sure hope she doesn't!

Outside of jewelry design, Cat holds a full-time job as a graphic designer at an advertising firm. "I love my job," she says, "I get to create on the computer all day and get paid for it."
